Faux brick panels function as an economical, easy-to-install decorating tool. Rather than stacking and mortaring real bricks, the pre-made panels are molded and painted to resemble a brick wall, and then attached to the drywall or plaster wall that is being covered. Comparable to eliminating tile panels could be simple or time-consuming, depending on the method where they were originally attached.
Clear the area surrounding the faux brick. Remove or appliances. Cover countertops with towels or sheets and transfer food away if it’s in the kitchen. Chips of the walls — as well as drywall or plaster underneath it may contaminate the region, In the event the faux brick has to be forcibly removed.
Pull onto a corner of the brick with a hand to see how it’s attached. In the event the faux brick is nailed to the sub-wall, this will be the easiest to remove. More elbow grease will be involved — if it’s glued with an adhesive — the most frequent form of attachment.
Twist the claw end of the hammer to the faux brick’s corner or border and pull. For attachments that are pinpointed, the claws should loosen, allowing the faux brick wall to be dragged off in the sub-wall. Continue down this the wall’s length before each of the faux brick is removed. Collect any claws staying in the walls or that have dropped to the ground.
Lay the faux brick if adhesive was used, sheeting from the wall with a paint scraper. Or use a hammer and chisel for hard paneling. Stick on the scraper or chisel under an edge and push inward to pry the faux brick; use the hammer the chisel further off. Work in tiny sections, continuing the process down the length of the faux brick wall.
Remove with the paint scraper to prepare the wall such as wallpapering or painting. Solvents like acetone and commercial adhesive removers may also be implemented to ease the procedure. Follow the manufacturer’s directions to employ properly. Fantastic ventilation in the room is necessary during the use of any chemical compounds.
