Though this pied-à-terre kitchen at San Francisco gets less usage than just one in a fulltime home, the owners still wanted all the amenities of a whole kitchen. Used mainly for a week for a month at a time, it has 82 square feet of distance — meaning the owners had to maintain their wish list to a minimal. To make the kitchen feel just like home, they hired designer Mimi Chen, that brought in an elegant folding glass door, smart countertop organization plus a fitting dining set — creating a casual yet elegant area that’s perfect for light dining and cooking.

Set beside the unit’s porch, the kitchen has a La Cantina folding glass door which permits the dining table and seats to be readily moved outside. The 30-inch-diameter Tripod Table from West Elm matches the small kitchen flawlessly, providing only enough room for casual dining table.
The kitchen flooring are made from durable and ecofriendly Terrazzo Crete, a custom polished polished concrete with exposed aggregates and iridescent fragments which shimmer in the sunlight.

The Gaggenau 12-inch Vario gas cooktop takes up minimal space with its two burners, but it has the operational power of a bigger cooktop.

A small range hood out of Zephyr ventilates the very small cooktop and contains built-in task lighting. A small custom stainless steel sink is proper for less dish washing, and a built-in soap dispenser cuts down on counter clutter. On the bottom of the window head, a small socket strip is concealed but convenient.
